I grew up in Wellington with a love of art and photography that came from my artistic mother. In 2006, I moved to Auckland, and started a career working for some of New Zealand’s leading design and luxury magazines as a photographer and writer. Throughout my career I’ve photographed a variety of people, from the camera-confident, to the camera-shy, from creatives to politicians, for both commercial and private clients. Today, I’m the proud mum of a gorgeous boy (my tiny assistant!) and love working as a freelance photographer. I live with my husband, son and two dogs in the Eastern suburbs.
Back in the days when family snaps were processed at the local chemist, I learned how to use an SLR camera, processing my own black and white prints in a darkroom at home. I’ve always been drawn to images that combine striking aesthetics with human emotion – and I love to blend humour, poignancy and beauty in my own work. For my portrait photography, I prefer to work using natural light, shooting on location, so I can capture images that tell unique, personal stories. I’m very relaxed and low-key when working, ensuring everyone feels at ease. I give direction to create great shots (without the images looking staged), and will always make sure that everyone looks good.
I also specialise in food photography and I am an Auckland food photographer. I have captured many of New Zealand’s leading restaurateurs and chefs in action, as well as their culinary creations. I work on-site in restaurants, photographing dishes in natural light for both restaurant clients and for magazine publication.
Please feel free to drop me a line or give me a call to talk about what you are looking for. For wedding and family portrait sessions, I’d love to sit down with you over a coffee or glass of wine to get to know you as a family or couple, and talk in-depth about what you’re hoping for from the shoot day. For food and commercial portraits, I can meet you on-site to discuss your company’s needs.
